Jennifer Blood, a St. Louis native, began her legal career in Chicago, Illinois, practicing at a well-known trial law firm. After moving back to St. Louis in 2012, Washington University School of Law awarded her an adjunct professorship, and she has been teaching in their trial advocacy program for over a decade. Although now a defense attorney, Jennifer joined Fox Smith with experience from both sides of the bar, and that experience allows her to anticipate and counter opponents’ strategies. Over the course of her career, Jennifer has handled litigation in courts across the country, with experience spanning medical and other professional malpractice, business and contract disputes, employment matters, intellectual property, and general personal injury cases.
Jennifer brings a deep litigation background to her health law practice. She has successfully defended hospitals, long-term care facilities, health-tech companies, and other healthcare providers in state and federal courts, handling all phases of litigation from early case assessment through trial. She has deposed and cross-examined experts across numerous specialties, drafted and argued dispositive motions with a strong track record of success, and tried cases to verdict in both jury and bench trials. Her experience allows her to evaluate healthcare disputes pragmatically, balancing legal risk, operational realities, and business objectives.
In addition to her trial practice, Jennifer regularly counsels clients on a variety of preventative strategies and regulatory issues in healthcare law. A sought-after speaker, she presents at national conferences and conducts in-house training for companies, including Fortune 500 companies. Her programs educate management and healthcare providers on various risk management techniques, increasingly complex regulatory issues, litigation avoidance, preparation strategies, deposition and testimony skills, medical charting, and provider communication pitfalls. Clients value Jennifer for her trial-tested judgment, clear communication, and ability to translate complex legal issues into actionable guidance for healthcare professionals.
